As the hotel prices in Sydney were extremely high, we decided to book a hotel in Bondi Beach. We were reluctant at first, but it didn’t disappoint at all. Bondi Beach is a very nice area to stay in and there is so much to do and see besides Sydney itself. We can absolutely recommend staying in Bondi Beach if you want to visit Sydney. If you’re staying in Sydney, make sure you pay a visit to Bondi Beach as well. Read on to find out about all the things to do in and around Bondi Beach!

Bondi Beach

The beach of Bondi is packed on a hot day, especially during the weekends. There’s a small area for swimming and you’ll see many surfers in the sea. We didn’t spend a day at the beach as we were too busy exploring. There’s a lot of art on the walls surrounding the beach, which are fun photo spots. The Campbell Parade also offers some nice clothing shops. Make sure to check out the surrounding streets as well. There’s a Globe store in the surrounding streets and we found out that Globe clothes in Australia are cheaper than in Europe!

Bondi Skate Park

Next to the beach there’s the famous skate park. Especially during the weekends you’ll see a lot of skaters in the park. It’s also a nice place to shoot some photos, but make sure to do this early in the morning so you won’t disturb any skaters.

Bondi Icebergs Club

The Icebergs Pool is an iconic spot in Bondi Beach. It’s a pool located in the ocean. On hot, sunny days the pool is packed. We didn’t go into the pool as we felt it was a little bit too cold and we preferred doing other things, but it’s an absolute must to check this place out when you’re in the area.

Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk

The Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk is a beautiful stroll when you’re in Bondi. It’s a walk along the cliffs and the view from up there over the ocean is beautiful. There are many photo spots along the way and at Mackenzies Point. Be careful though when taking pictures close to the edge of the cliffs!

Dudley Page Reserve

From Bondi Beach you can take the bus to Dudley Page Reserve. Dudley Page Reserve is located on a hill and offers a beautiful view over Sydney and its skyline. It’s a nice place to stop by on your way to Watsons Bay.

Watsons Bay

Watsons Bay is a beautiful area with a few nice restaurants, a small beach and lots of greenery around. From here you can take the ferry to Sydney (which we did a couple of times). You can also walk up north to the South Head Heritage Trail, which is a fun thing to do in the area of Bondi Beach.

South Head Heritage Trail

Go up north from Watsons Bay and walk along the cliffs past various beaches. The trail is not that long, but you’ll probably stop a few times to take photos. The views are beautiful as well as the beaches you’ll pass. The Hornby Lighthouse is located at the South Head. It’s a popular photo spot so there will be many people around taking photos. You can take the same route back along the Heritage Trail or you can take the Lighthouse Road back to Watsons Bay.

Take the ferry to Sydney

From Watsons Bay there are multiple ferries departing to Circular Quay. You’ll drive past beautiful towns and cities before reaching Circular Quay. Taking the ferry to Sydney is an absolute must do when visiting Sydney, the perspective from the water is stunning!

Getting around Bondi Beach and Sydney

You need to take the bus to get to Watsons Bay from Bondi Beach, as it’s too far to walk. If you’re staying in the center of Sydney, you can also take the ferry to Watsons Bay. Using public transport in Sydney and the surrounding cities is very easy. We purchased a public transport pass at the airport of Sydney (Opal pass) and loaded it with some money. We used Google Maps for routes and time tables which was always very accurate.
